Countee Cullen

Early days
In the case of Countee Cullen his childhood is shrouded in mystery with only a few certain facts. As a boy he was raised by raised by a women known as Mrs. Porter who may have been his grandmother. He was possibly was abandoned by his Mom, but again there is no clear answer. Porter took Countee cullen to Harlem when he was 9. Then sadly Porter past away. Countee Cullen was then taken in by the local reverend and his wife.
Middle years
In high school he exceled and got into the honor society. He was also vice president of his class and left with honors in Latin, Greek, French, and mathematics.
Adult life
Countee Cullen went to Harvard and got a master’s in English.Before that he went to NYU and got second place in a poetry contest. While at Harvard he got his first collection of poems published, the collection is called Color. These poems told about the racism and injustice going on around him.He married yolande du bois. After a few years though the marrage fell apart. (One poem form Color is incident. It is quite good im my opinion. It is #7)
